About Him
BIOGRAPHY
"When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their sense eroded by fear. When a great soul dies, the air around us becomes light. Our eyes see with hurtful clarity."
IDAHOSA Festus Ekhorutomwen will always be remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues for his smile and way of life that brought so much pleasure and peace to everyone around him.
He believed in God, fairness justice and equity. He had the heart that cared completely, and the love that brought joy beyond measure.
Festus was born on 20th November 1990, into the family of IDAHOSA Alex Edomwonyi, in Egbokor, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Edo state. As the 10th and the last child of his mother, he was the pride of the family.
He attended Osaretin Primary School, Egbokor and completed his Senior Secondary education at DOMA Comprehensive College, Woji, in Port Harcourt. Thereafter, he proceeded to the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State, where he studied Metrological and Material Engineering from 2015 to 2020.
Until he was snatched away from us, Festus was one of the Partners of Techskol; a software company for education and as the Head of Operations, he was very vital to the company in creating a unique product that served a great cause in education.
He also served as the Operations Manager for TL Farms Agro Int’l Limited. Under his management, TL Farms grew exponentially and saw huge returns. Safe to say that Festus was a man of grace and favor.
As a man who believed in and loved Nigeria, Festus joined other electorates of Ward 9, Polling Unit 34, in Ogheghe, Benin city on 25th February 2023 to vote his choice Presidential candidate, with the hope of a better Nigeria. Unknown to him and us, that would be his last day alive. He was shot dead by political thugs who stormed the polling unit, shot into the crowd.
Our jewel of inestimable value did nothing wrong. All Festus wanted was to exercise his civic national duty, but Nigeria happened to him.
His death has filled us with rude shock and great sense of loss.
We are however consoled that he did not die for any form of criminality but for a good deed.
Festus, YOU ARE OUR HERO.
We remember you today and every day. May your soul rest in the bosom of God.

Thinking of you my friend, has left me pondering on what it is we are brought here on earth to do.You see, because of the pressures of life, we strive so hard to be the best in our careers, the best doctor, lawyer, pastor, engineer, and so on.
But very few, myself included really pursue the right titles.
Idahosa was not just a son/brother/uncle/nephew/friend/colleague/neighbor, he embodied, brought to life the true meaning of these words.
I’m not saying this to make a good speech for my dear friend, or am I saying he was perfect. I’m simply saying the truth, and we all seated here are a testament to that truth.
You can be the best professional, but are you a good son/brother/uncle/nephew/neighbor, or friend, in your place of work will it be said of you, that you are a good colleague?
These are the real titles that matter when we look at what we lack in our world today. Our families, society, nation, our world would be a better place if only we can do away with big titles and be the best humans to others.
My friend, you were a 100% friend to me, to your mother you were 100%, to your siblings you were 100%, to your colleague/neighbor/nephew/uncles/aunties, you were 100%.
Not a lot of us understand this, let alone being these things.
But you my friend lived this way for over 3 decades.
I want to say a big thank you, thank you for almost 2 decades of friendship.
Thank you for not living a life to impress, or a life of pretense, thank you for being real every day.
Lastly, I want to apologize on behalf of this cruel world that was undeserving of you, that stole your smile, and took you away.
If not the wickedness of these miscreants, I have no doubt in my mind that you would have gone on to be the best husband/father/grandfather anyone would want.
The only way I believe I can honor you best is to be the best human to others and by taking up your name Festus like your mum calls me now,
David-Festus. In doing so, I hope to inherit that agape love you shared freely.
Good night my dear friend Fessy.
Thank you!

I had not known you a long time but you've left indelible memories in My heart. Your sense of responsibility was something to be admired. You found the time and energy to be there to cater for and assist everybody around you. Festus Idahosa was a bosom friend, each time I remembered he is gone hurts my memory. We new while we were in 100l at FUTA and same department. I first got acquainted to him when he contested for engineering governor in 100l. He was a friend in need and a friend in deed, he was always ready to take your pain, was ever ready to carry everyone along and fight for their collective course, no matter what it would cost him, what a good leadership ability, so much reason he was elected as our departmental president. He was a greathearted man and a philanthropist with a dogged ability. I remembered back then while I was not having much in school, he was not only ready to give from his fish but was also ready to show you how to catch the fish, what a friend. He really affected me positively while he was alive, each time I had challenges, he would and was ever ready to sacrify his time and energy to show the way forward from the best of his knowledge, he could sacrify for you for Africa. We had collective pursuit that we couldn't finish together, now you left me in the pursuit alone, I will forever miss u Idahosa. RIP bosom friend.Tribute to a bosom friend Flow Adebayo

Festus was my friend and colleague and it hurts that I'm writing this tribute for him on behalf of my colleagues when we should be bantering about work instead. Festus was an awesome person, ever reliable, ever dependent, your go-to-person for anything you need sorted out, solid guy, always giving of himself even when it doesn't favour him sometimes. It's a shame that his life was brought to an untimely end by some unscrupulous elements. I hope and pray that they be brought to book soon enough to pay for their crime. As we lay you to rest, I pray that God in his infinite mercies accept you in his bosom and give your family and friends the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
On behalf of TL FARMS, we bid you farewell Festus. As much ãs we'll rather not be doing this, the will of God must prevail.

ELEGY FOR A COUNTRY ON HER DEATHBED THROES.The casualties are not the dead;
They are way out of it.
The casualties are us daily speared
By the frigid actors who spit at democracy,
No emotions like the callous executioner,
Who set the hoisted Banner of democracy
Afire, jibing at us in ridicule, like Jesus Christ
Mocked, stoned and spat at as unsupernatural:
The defeated people, we are the casualties.
It's we the casualties that are cornered by
The marauders and pillagers of our
Cherished liberty, leaving us on all fours
In defeat like a spent war horse.
The chest-locked flame is mere embers
Now; it beckons on the ashes,
All strength dies, talk more of beleaguered Strength daily hunted for the kill
Like a quarry in the wild. We are the casualties:
You and me, the hunter and the hunted!
Rest in Peace Comrade

Festus was a God sent to me because God used him to support and uplift me during a challenging time in my life.
His impart in my life was immeasurable. He was a true friend in every possible way and his kindness and generosity in my life will never be forgotten. Even though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in my heart forever.
His selflessness and compassion was an inspiration to everyone who know him and his legacy will continue to inspire kindness and love in this world.
Rest in peace, dear friend. You will be deeply missed, but your memory will lived on through the lives you touched and the hearts you healed.

An epistle is not enough for my vibrant, totalitarian, charismatic leader, I will forever cherish him. He was a gentle, munificent and hardworking person. He supported progressive movements while on campus and he dislike cheating or bullying by other students. He's one of my helpers during hard time in my undergraduate, he stood by me, he supported my student's political ambitions on campus. And anytime I seek for his help and advise on difficult issues, he's always there for me.
To me personally, his demise has created a vacuum in me and its irreparable loss.
I pray that may Almighty God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

I keep asking myself why God choose to take the good people from us, your death was the most tragedy thing that have happened to me this year and I couldn’t believe you’re gone even though death is inevitable but this wasn’t the way it should be because the wicked people let you die with your dreams of revolutionizing Nigeria. Our memories are just like yesterday since 2015 that we’ve been together, we both served NAMMES FUTAchapter together in which you’re the president and I was your director of socials, go clubbing together, do many things together , always available for my birthday no matter the distance, just mentioned few. I watched our pictures and couldn’t believe you’re gone. You impacted me with honesty, liberty and standing up for truth; you would forever be in my heart till we meet again. TRIBUTE TO YOU MY LOVELY COUSIN....... I am glad I had a super cousin, Brother you were, kind and true, I remmber the last time we meet how u make everyone laugh.. February 25th you have injured me so much that ur took always a great icon from us during the presidental election .. dear cousin Thanks for all your loving kindness, and you asked nothing in return. When I look at your picture, sweet memories, I recall a face full of sunshine and smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus, please take this message to my dear Brother up above, please Tell him how we miss him and give him all our love. It broke my heart to lose you. But, you never left alone, part of me went with you that day God called you home. Bro as usually I do call you, you left peaceful memories, your love still guides us, Though we cannot see you, you are always beside us. Our family chain got broken, and nothing works the same, But since God calls us one by one, the chain will one day link again. Days have ended, nights have descended, the marsh is frozen, and the rivers are dead. But none can be compared to your demise. As you lay in silence, may the angel wings be upon us to comfort and guide us and hold us tight to accept your flight. Brother, we love you and will miss you every day till we meet that great great day in heaven. Gone are the bright days when your smile would warm our hearts, rest and warm the angel in heaven. The days are long, nights are becoming colder. Finally, the reality is slowly hitting! Tell me this is just a bad nightmare! Where are you, dear Brother? Where is your laughter? Where is your kind heart? All in heaven and resting! That was sooner than we all thought. I fear closing my eyes to reality. I fear facing the truth. I fear to say rest in peace,😭😭😭 keep resting my Brother.Mrs. Obehi Nosakhere Osazuwa

Words can't honestly express what I have in mind but I hope it's able to tell people of how a Elder Brother uncle and best friend you are to me.If I start listing them one by one all the times you've stood up for me I don't think we would be able to finish today.
Who am I going to call when I'm choked up by life? who am I going to call when I need that urgent 2k for something? who am I going to call when I want something I can't reach? who will take me out and spend on me to know how it is to have that big brother? Who is going to boast on my name and always ask for his salute.
I really miss you just know that, you can never been gone to me because you've made so many impact in my life and taught me alot of things. I remember when you where stressing yourself in order for me to go to a very good secondary school, I'm still benefiting from that, and how u would always support me in all I'm doing and believe in me and lifting up my spirit I never had the chance to tell you I LOVE YOU but you know I always do love you.

Dear festus. You know how to live and embrace every moment. You had a lot of great qualities but the most endearing to me was to get people to open up. You made me always feel comfortable enough to share my worries, and at all times you gave me assurance. You were always there for the family.
You accomplished so much in your life but unfortunately your life was not long enough to enable you fulfill all your dreams especially doing your master's in the Uk, setting up your own company and building an orphanage home as you've always have a heart for the less privileged and wanting everyone around you to be ok.
The day you left was a day no one expected , no chance to even say goodbye.
I am glad that i had the opportunity to spend quality time with you. You were all i could ask for in a brother-inlaw. You always had a way with words and to me you knew almost everything.
I miss your laugh, your dress sense, your talk and our little argument sometimes. I love you festy like i fondly call you and things will Never be the same. Joan Idahosa(sister in-law)

Dear brother, you remain alive in my prayers and wishes, you were everything a sister could ask for. I was blessed to have you as my younger brother. Growing up with you I was fulfilled because you were smart and intelligent. When I saw you smile, I saw happiness, when I saw your face, I saw hope.
We’ve been through so much together. We worked and strived to build something meaningful out of life; I had wished you had lived long enough to enjoy the fruits of our labour together.
My brother, my friend, you will forever remain in my heart.❤

May his gentle soul rest in peace. Amen. Festus idahosa is a friend and a family to me, I love him for the kind of person he is, is a wonderful person. For the little time I have spend with him, I can beable to tell a little word of him, he is the kind of person that nothing makes him angry, his always a happy young man, whether good or bad, u will always see a smile on his face. At times he makes joke of me by calling me,ekebe super . He his a kind hearted person, love to be with, even though I'm angry with the names he called me at times, he will still put a smile on my face. He is a good friend and a good brother to me, but is unfortunate I lost him,to death, who will joke with me like he used to do, who will I play with and call my personal person. Well I can't question God for his death, I believe God knows all. I pray, may God almighty grant him eternal rest in heaven . 💔😭RIPMrs. Joy

But as the day goes, the reality of your demise get done on me, the truth is you will forever remain in y heart, I will miss you in church, miss your personality. Though I'm being consoled with the fact that I know you are resting in God's bossom. Continue to rest brother until that Faithful morning when we shall see face to face to path no more. With so much pain and broken heart. With hurtful tears in my eyes, l continue to hurt so much when l remember the struggles we went through together in life to get to where we are today before the enemies cut short your big dreams for no reason. Festus my brother, you were a symbol of fairness, justice and equity in our great family even though you were the baby of the house.Who ever have a hand in your untimely death shall never know peace.
Continue to rest in the bossom of the Lord in Jesus name. Amen.

My Benin brother and friend,My heart remains heavy, but my relief is that I got to experience the light that you were in this world. I have great memories to hold on to of your show of affection, friendship, kindness, pragmatism, and strength. I choose to cherish those memories forever. Your vibrance was infectious. You changed my worldview about people and culture. I’m even more thankful for our last conversation. How does one find a friend who is so full of life, wild, friendly, and intensely passionate about others? How does one find someone so dogged, brave, kind, and loyal? We are the lucky ones; we were really blessed by your presence, however short or long it was.
Thank you, Festus.

My dear Hosa, I knew you before I met you and upon meeting you, your energy was one that could not be ignored. Your passion for the things you believed in was obvious. Your laughter was funny and contagious. Your loyalty to your family and friends was beautiful to watch. Your friendship and brotherhood with my husband was one that was rare. Thank you for loving us the way you did. Thank you for choosing the path of peace. Thank you for how much of yourself you gave in this life. Your exit was one that shook and hit us to the core. 25th of February took from us and in a hard way. New Era, like you named him, never got to see or know you. Everything still feels surreal. I still expect a call or to see you walk through the door. God knows best. I pray your soul finds rest in God. "Vengeance is mine" says the Lord, "I will repay". That's my confidence. He will repay, and in a thousand fold. Until then dear friend, enjoy God's rest.I miss you dear friend and brother.

When I remember all the people that we have lost in recent time. The skills, talents, character and human resources we have lost , Idahosa Festus Inclusive.I realise that a life time is not forever, Life is short, we just needed to make our lives count.
I feel inspired everyday to live life to the fullest. Tomorrow is not guaranteed anyone.
Idahosa Festus, it does not matter how long you lived. You came you saw, you conquered.
You lived well. You lived an impact full life.
Sad to let you go, but continue to rest in the bossom of the Lord.

Festus,You are a brother anyone would pray and love to have. You were always there for everyone. You were my “Go-to” person.
You had dreams and aspirations, but the pain is that they were not achieved.
Your departure is a “difficult departure” but is a reality I have to live with.
From your “Bros” because you always call me “Bros”
